MUSIC MAKERS
I created this for a friend who was battling an illness. During this time, he took much inspiration from the Arthur O'Shaughnessy poem.

IMPISH IMPI
Impi is a Zulu word for an armed body of men. I created this piece for a friend from South Africa who requested something with his screen name (Impish Impi) that depicts a flavor for the beauty of Africa, mixed with a strong essence of magic and fantasy.

GRAFFITI FOREST
This was created as an entry for a Photoshop contest on the web. The original photo was provided from the site conducting the contest, and the only requirement was to use it to create a piece of art, in order to exhibit your talents. My image above was the winner of that contest.

DAPPLED LIBRARY
This is an image I colorized, painting every minute detail by hand, using my Wacom pen tablet. Close inspection will reveal a level of detail seldom seen in colorization projects. This image is featured on the website, Shorpy.com.

MAN INTO MACHINE
This was designed to accompany an article discussing how technology has encroached upon every facet of our lives. The attempt was to capture the transition of man, evolving from a primordial essence, into beings who surrender more and more of our private selves to our masters of technology.

CLIMATE CHANGE? WHAT CLIMATE CHANGE?
This was designed to accompany a piece on rising sea levels as a result of climate change. I attempted, in a lighthearted way, to depict a serious subject, without being heavy-handed. If done properly, a humorous approach can often serve to disarm a skeptical reader. Some of my favorite hidden visual gags are, Flipper on the television, the singing bass above the fireplace, no need for a recliner for Dad, and the cat, presumably keeping dry in the aquarium.

COLORFUL CON
This was just a fun photo that was begging to be colorized. I use no special apps, tools, or filters to colorize these photos. They all represent hand-drawn attention to details.

FLIGHT OF FANCY
This carnival couple looked as if they wished to fly unfettered, enabling them to take in all the sights.

BAD KITTY
Sometimes, a little low-brow humor has its place. This simple little visual rarely fails to elicit a laugh. What many don’t realize, however, is how the entire area of the jacket, formerly occupied by the cat, required redrawing by hand (not to mention the over-the-top reaction on the owner’s face).

SCULPTURE
There was something oddly compelling about this sculpture. Perhaps it looked so bland and ungainly that I felt it deserved an opportunity to shine.

SUNSHINE ON A CLOUDY DAY
This photo of PAML headquarters on the Spokane River was sadly lacking in eye-appeal, given the gloomy weather. A little attention in Photoshop made the gloom a thing of the past. This image was used in several brochures and articles about the company. Note that the attention to detail included adding the reflection of the billowing clouds to the water below.

TIME FLIES
Using Photoshop layer blending transformed this part from an old watch into a visually intriguing, abstract timepiece.

GET ME TO THE CHURCH ON TIME
Adding a little gloom transformed this quaint, old church into something a bit more sinister. It serves as an example of how, with a little skill, the only limit is the imagination.
